This is one more simple Fish Recipe with Raw Banana which my mom prepares occasionally. Other than Raw Banana, she also uses Potato/Cauliflower/Carrots/Beans for preparing this dish. Check out for more recipe ideas with Raw Banana (only veg) at the end of this post !

Raw Banana, which is considered to be a good source of Potassium and Vitamins like A and C, helps to reduce the risk of Blood Pressure. Another major health benefit of Raw banana is their capability of fighting intestinal disorders. It not only helps to reduce diarrhea, but also gives relief to ulcer patients suffering from over acidity.
Here is a picture of banana plantation in my backyard in West Bengal..isn't that awesome!

Cooking time : 12 to 15 minutes
Serves : 5
Ingredients :
- 1 lb.of Silver carp (can use any white fleshed fish)
- 3 medium sized Raw Banana, sliced lengthwise
- 1 large onion
- 1 tbsp of ginger paste
- 2 dry red chilies
- 1 Bay leaf
- 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt, as required
- Oil, as required
- Water, as required

Preparation :
- Wash the Fish thoroughly and cut into 2" pieces. Keep the Fish pieces marinated with a pinch of turmeric and salt for 5 to 7 minutes. In the meantime ,make a fine paste of onion, keep aside .
- Next in a heavy bottomed pan, heat 2 tbsp of oil and gently fry the fish pieces until they are light golden in color. Remove the fish pieces, keep aside.
- In the same pan, add the bay leaf, dry chilies and the garlic paste, fry for a few seconds. Then add the onion paste , turmeric powder and tomato ketchup, fry for another minute or so or until the raw smell of spices vanish.
- Next add a cup of water to the spice mix along with the Raw Banana slices ,let cook covered for 2 minutes or until all the flavors blend in.
- Next add salt and water according to your desired consistency, and lastly the fish pieces and let cook covered until the fish is fully cooked.
- Serve hot with Rice.
Some veg recipes with Raw Banana :
- This is one simple recipe of Raw Banana which my mom usually prepares, Boil it , then mash it with a pinch of salt and stir fried onions.
- If you are making any mixed veggie dish with Potato , try adding Raw Bananas instead as it has a flavor similar to potatoes. Serve it with Phulkas/Chapatis.
- Raw Banana can be boiled ,mashed and flavored with different spices to be used as a filling for tikkis and cutlets.
- Another recipe of Raw banana which my mom-in-law prepares, Stir Fry the Sliced Raw Banana with a tsp of mustard seeds and curry leaves, add turmeric and chilly powder and lastly season with grated coconut.
